September 2nd Meeting on Permanency Composite #2 – Adoptions
On September 2, 2008, representatives from Georgia counties with adoption times closest to the federal targets met with the Administration for Children and Families’ Bill Stanton and members of Georgia DFCS, Office of the Child Advocate, and J4C to discuss Permanency Composite #2 – adoptions.
The meeting centered on practices in the high achieving counties – Barrow, Bartow, Cobb, Douglas, and Spalding – that J4C identified in its review. A lively discussion filled the entirety of the 2 ½-hour meeting, with an emphasis on whether each specific practice was a “best practice,” and the best methods to implement the “best practices” in counties that are not as close to the federal adoption targets.
